Three Keys Concepts in Network Marketing


There are three key concepts I learned from famous networker Jim Rohn that have changed my life and my business.

1. For things to change, you have to change.  For things to get better, you have to get better.
It is not other things that need to change; it’s you.  Once you start to explore your own personal growth, you can take control of your life.  And it works on prospects too.  If you tell prospects that for things to change, you have to change, prospects will agree with you and get ready to get going.
2. Success isn’t something you pursue; it’s something you attract by the person you become.
You don’t have to chase and purse people or things to get success.  You need to become more attractive in business and everything else will start falling into place.  People will be attracted to you.  You will attract success instead of having to pursue success.

3. Formal education will make you a living and you’ll get a paycheck.  Self-education will make you a fortune.

If you stop growing, you start dying.  So, you need to continue your growth pattern after formal education.  Read a book.  Read lots of books.  Develop a habit of continuing your education through reading, seminars, events, etc.  Self-education is you taking charge of your life and continuously improving your skills.
These are the three concepts that changed my Network Marketing career and helped lead me to success in life and business.  My hope is that they help you too.

7 Deadly Sins in Network Marketing

7 Deadly Sins can absolutely rip an organization apart, and are deadly to your long term success in this profession...
The 7 Deadly Sins in Network Marketing are:
1. Over-inflating your product or your opportunity. The truth is enough.
2. Inconsistency. Whether you are the leader or just getting started, make sure that you’re consistent.  Inconsistency in building your business will crush your efforts.
3. Negativity. Nobody enjoys listening to negativity, or being around, or following people who are negative in their talk, posture or behavior. Negativity will crush an organization, so be positive.
4. The “Idea of the week.” Be stable within your organization when it comes to a method of operation that you’re asking people to do.

5. Sleeping around. What you do outside of your organization is one thing. What you do inside of your organization is a completely different thing. We’re professionals. Be professional. It’s just not worth the reputation risk or emotional impact within an organization.
5. Stealing distributors. Whether with good intentions or bad, just make a decision that if you didn’t bring them to the party, you’re not signing them up. Your job is to be their peer, not a predator.
7. Bouncing from company to company. Decide to sink your roots deep. There may come a time where you have to make a decision, you have to make a move. But don’t be a person that every couple of years you pull up roots and go someplace.

There are 5 qualities that I want to have in a leader who I am going to work with:
1. Confidence
2. Capable
3. Committed
4. Coachable
5. Good Communicator


What do I mean by capable?  I mean that when you send them a welcome email or package, they don’t ask you a question because they actually read it!  And then they sign somebody up all by themselves.  That is capable.
They’re committed when things are going poorly, and they’re still there.  They are still showing up on leadership calls, attending months, and month after month, they are in it.
People don’t have to recreate everything all by themselves.  They just need to be willing to watch other people and be coached.
So, who do you want to work with?  The key to great leadership is being able to communicate expectations, educate, and install confidence into your team.  Watch what other people are doing who are successful.  If you want to learn how to communicate, see how other people are successfully doing it.  See what’s working and what’s not working.  The key to greatness is seeing yourself bigger than you think is possible and trying to achieve it.

what do we call what we do?  Some call it Direct Selling or Multi-Level Marketing (MLM).  And some call it Network Marketing.  Right now, we are confusing the world.  The only way we can tell people what we do is by naming a certain company.  “We’re like that company,” we say.  We need to have a standard that describes the channel of distribution we represent.

So, what do we actually do?  Ultimately, we sell products to consumers using word of mouth advertising.  This is accomplished with three basic strategies.  First, we personally go out and sell the products or services to consumers.  Second, we build and expand a network of other distributors who do the same thing.  And third, we apply leadership to that network to improve productivity of our network.  That is what we do.  So, how can we describe that in a term?
MLM is, in BALAJI’s opinion, a terrible term.  All that the term describes is that you can get more than one level from network building.  But it doesn’t talk about sales, leadership, or expanding the network.  MLM only touches on one little aspect of the compensation plan.  Direct Selling is also, in BALAJI’s opinion, a terrible term.  It still only describes one piece of what we do.  Yes, we take products and sell them directly to consumers, but so does the kid with the lemonade stand.  Most of the world is involved in Direct Selling to some extent.
The best description is Network Marketing.  Network Marketing perfectly covers how we are in the business of marketing products and services through a network of ever expanding and increasingly productive distributors using word of mouth advertising.
BALAJI realizes that this might be controversial, and some people might run away from defining us as Network Marketers.  But we need to be proud of what we do and provide.  Our entire profession and all of the companies represented in it need to say “Yes, I’m a part of Network Marketing.  Yes, I’m proud of it, and for the average person with entrepreneurial dreams it is a better way.”  The faster that happens, the faster the entire profession gets standardized around the world and we stop attacking each other by trying to differentiate what we are.  We need to be proud to be Network Marketers.  Proud of who we are and the quality of the products and services we provide.
So, spread the word.  We are Network Marketers.  Tell your friends and family, your company, your contacts, everyone.  With shoulders back and chins up, let’s go tell the world that we have a better way.

10 Tips On How To Be A Successful Reseller
1. Know your numbers.
It’s important to keep a clean excel sheet on what you sold, when you sold it, how much it cost, and how much profit you make off the pair; that way you can look back and see how well you did on a monthly or yearly basis and see which products did well for you.
2. Silence is golden.
The less they know, the better.
3. Consistency.
Being able to make sales and cash flow on a consistent basis are important to a small business; find products that you can sell on a daily basis (read: not just “heat”) will allow you to build up clientele and build relationships.
4. Stay relevant on social media.

8. Buy supply in bulk.
Boxes and tape are two of the most important tools in an online resell business. If you can find a deal to stock up on both, go for it. Personally I keep 14x10x6, 16x10x6 and 18x12x6 boxes on deck at all times.
9. Promo goodies.
Stickers and other promotional items have minimal cost in the long run, and c’mon, everyone loves free stuff, especially cool items that they can use to rep your brand.
10. Communication.
Weed out the bad ones, keep your unread email count low, keep the good regulars happy, check in on them from time to time; it all comes  to come down to communication.
